About Ony:
Onyxia’s Lair is home to the dragon Onyxia. She is an impressive beast that will challenge new guilds to the zone. Onyxia’s difficulty is comparable to the middle tier bosses in Molten Core. It will require understanding and skill to endure the perils of the encounter. Guilds will attempt to kill Onyxia while they are still mastering Molten Core. Some guilds wait until they have the first few MC Bosses on farm status before attempting Ony. This is to get geared up and have a valid attempt and not become cannon fodder while learning.
Onyxia has many appealing qualities. Firstly she will be the first real boss that introduces you to phased/scripted battles. These are predetermined events that happen during an encounter based on time, boss health, or another element of the battle.
Defeating Onyxia will open up a treasure trove of goodies to the guild. She has extremely useful epics not to mention Onyxia also drops the coveted Tier 2 headpieces.
The last favorable quality is that the Onyxia raid instance is very small. There are 4 trash mobs between the zone line and the raid boss. Once you get up to speed you can farm Ony in just a few minutes.
